From boiler suit to Make-up Artist...

'I ditched my boiler suit for some makeup brushes - It's never too late to follow your dreams...
I always wanted to train in make-up artistry, I completed NVQ's Level 2 & 3 in beauty therapy straight from school. My passion was without a doubt make-up but I couldn't afford to attend the make-up artist schools in London.
My career ended up taking a completely different turn, with the oil industry so strong in Aberdeen I ended up in various oil based office jobs. The next thing I knew I was boarding a helicopter to start work as a Radio Operator offshore on an oil rig.
As much as I enjoyed my career I still dreamed of being a mua one day. I'm now 31 and at the beginning of the year I attended the Academy of Make-up and successfully completed the Foundation Make-up artistry course. With a school now based in Glasgow I could afford the training and have booked the Advanced Course for later in the year.
It's never too late to follow your dreams and I now have my own freelance makeup business.
I still work in the oil industry but back onshore in the office, I then spend my evening and weekends doing what I do best. I ditched my boiler suit for some makeup brushes and I'm loving every minute of it.
