I was successful in applying for the Lead Artist position for the Glasgow University's Charity Fashion Show - Focus 2018 and I can honestly say it has been one of the best experiences since graduating from The Academy of Makeup.
During this aftercare opportunity, I worked closely with Anne, the Creative Director of GUCFS. We had meetings and trials to discuss and create different looks for a series of different photo and video shoots leading up to the main Fashion Show. The shoots were in collaboration with some of the main designers featured in the final Show.
Creating a variety of different makeup looks, from natural, glowy looks right through to creative fashion looks, was so much fun. In one of the videos, we painted the models in UV paint… Now that was fun!!! It really does get your creative mind flowing. It was an amazing chance to work alongside other graduates and to meet other creatives. Seeing the end result was so satisfying.
This years charity was for The Glasgow Children’s Hospital so I wanted to use lots of bright colours. It was so much fun. I'm delighted to say that the show itself was a great success and, to date, we seem to be heading towards reaching the target of £20,000. I'm so proud to be part of something so special.
I would definitely urge all new graduates to apply for aftercare. It’s such a fab experience. I have learned so, so much and met some amazing people along the way. It’s been a fun, interesting, creative rollercoaster and a massive learning curve.
I can’t thank The Academy of Makeup enough for putting me forward.
