GSA Graduation Show 2018 by Gosia May

Our graduate Gosia recently led a team of graduates at the 2018 Glasgow School of Art Fashion Show. Here is what she had to say about her experience:
When I graduated from the Academy of Makeup at the beginning of March 2018, my world turned upside down and the vision of my future totally changed. As soon as I started the Pro Makeup course at the Academy and I met all the amazing tutors, who are incredible makeup artists and have been working in the industry for years, I knew that this is what I want to do with my life.
So far, the Aftercare Programme has given me so many great opportunities and the Glasgow School Of Art Graduation show was one of them. The trust that the Academy put in me for selecting me as the lead make up artist boosted my confidence to a maximum. I knew I had to give 100%. I didn’t have backstage experience before this opportunity but to my surprise I really enjoyed it!
Before the show, I got in touch with leading designer Flint McDonald about the makeup brief and the show theme so that I could draw a few ideas on face charts to share with my lovely and very passionate team of fellow academy graduates. The show was amazing, so many incredibly talented, young designers. The makeup was about real skin, visible freckles, healthy rosy cheeks, dewy glow… the kind of make up I love doing. The designers were all so different but each of them so good at their own style. The pace you have to work at the fashion shows and the atmosphere is what I enjoyed the most. Being able to see the show from behind the scenes, the stress, the excitement, the uncertainty it’s what drives you when you are there.
Being a lead makeup artist for the GSA Show was definitely the highlight of my makeup career! I hope the next thing I could write about will be London Fashion Week which is my dream just now.
